planishing hammer???

I personally do not believe it has enough power to hammer out steel. It was designed for hammering thin sheets of metal. But that's my opinion. Would not want you to waste your hard earned money.

Take a close look at the picture. It's just an air chisel in a frame. Grab an air chisel and weld one of the bits to a ball bearing. Now, attach it to a compressor, apply it to your head, and pull the trigger.

Feel that headache? That's what you'd get after buying that tool :D

Terry, I went to take a look at it last week. I was told they only have two delivered to each store and those two are usually spoken for. I asked to see the display and it was gone. They might be of some use to a bladesmith but since I didn't see one I really don't know. All the bike building shows have made that hammer and I guess its the English Wheel real popular.

I did not see one at my store either, i was wondering if it had a pressure adjustment or anything. But since i did not see it, oh well.

Theyre quite nice for planishing armor after it's dished /boughed / raised, but no, they dont hit nearly hard enough to forge with, Iv'e got a home made planishing hammer setup which I made for when I was making a spangen helm a while back. Not much use for non-sheet metal with one.

Terry, After your short story I'm wondering if they really have it or if its away to bring more people into the store. As many times as I have been in the store since its opening I don't ever recall seeing one.
