Planning a jump to Spyderco

I'm looking to sell my remaining Strider folding knives and pick up a Spyderco. Can someone tell me how aggressive the G10 texturing is on the Paramilitary 2s? Is the texturing as aggressive as Emerson's? I'm only asking because with my Striders, the titanium frame side saved me money by not tearing or ripping the interior of my pockets consequent to withdrawal..

The G10 is similar to the Emersons, but I frequently sand my G10 scales down a bit to reduce the tooth.

Can I ask, why the move "down" (subjectively) from Strider to Spyder?

Good move, I've never taken to striders. Too expensive for the materials used imo.

I say go straight to the Southard. Still have the Ti side which I also prefer.

Spyderco's G10 in general is quite a bit less aggressive than Emerson's I haven't had any problems with it.

I think their G10 on the PM2 is about perfect. The Tenacious is a bit lacking imo, and the Southard is pushing it on aggressiveness. For me, I think my pockets get torn up not from handle material, but screws on clips, or just the general area of the clip where it bends back down to the handle of the knife at an angle. I think that the real answer is the Spyderco wire clip. That clip is awesome, so good I had one of my favorite Spyderco's milled out to accept the wire clip. Because they recess it and it has 90 degree angles, it is much nicer to pants. You can see in the second one that there is one large (T8) screw that holds it on. With the big head and more gradual slope, I have never had that screw hang up on my jeans and give me issues.

I'm a big Strider fan but I'm also a a BIG Spyderco fan so you will not be disapointed.

Personally I don't think the G10 is anywhere near as aggressive as the Emerson. My CQC7 shreds my jeans not so with the Para 2, the Manix 2 is a little more aggressive but still know where near as toothy as the Emerson. They are still grippy enough for me but I don't use my knives in wet conditions very often.

I think it has more to do with the clip retention. I'd say the Para II scales are only slightly less aggressive than my mini CQCQ-15. But the clip on the Emerson is much stronger and beefier. In either case I never had a problem with it tearing pockets. Although, I live in work jeans and they get beat up all the time so it's no biggy to me.

Thanks for the responses.. Also, what's going on with Manix 2 XL (black plain blade) and Paramilitary 2 (black plain blade)? Aside from Amazon and Ebay, I can't find them in stock anywhere..

The G10 on my Emersons (specifically the newer ones) have the most aggressive tooth of any scales in my herd.
A few of my older ones ('05 and '07) sport G10 that feels closer to most of my Spyders (enough bite, but not pocket shredders).
"The move 'down'" certainly is a subjective opinion. Especially when you throw in the idea of principles into the mix ;)
