Hi I am thinking about buying a BK11 and doing the following mods, any thoughts/advice?

Here is a slightly less extreme version, I can't decide between the two

Do it! And post pics! Before and after!

What are you planning to use to cut it? Remember to be careful about letting it get too hot, lest you ruin the heat treat of the blade.

I'm not sure what I will use to cut it, I'm a little nervous about using a bench grinder. If I go that route I will be stopping frequently to feel the blade and dip it in water. Maybe I could use a hack saw to remove some material?

The grinder should work fine, just be sure to go slow and dip it frequently. It will heat up fast. Can't wait to see the results!

Id use a bench grinder just dip it in cold water every 2 or 3 passes. And use a light touch as not to burn the tip off.

Yep, bench grinder probably much easier than a hacksaw. Definitely be careful with the heat. I like the top one the best. Will be interested to see your results.

A wise choice to go with the 11 indeed.

Let's go with the first design. Looks mean!

The wife will be fine with it. Just let her go buy a pair of shoes. lol

Bench grinder it, the thin(ish) stock of the 11 isnt to hard to work with, I managed to put on a decent looking clip point on my 11 in about 3 mins with the bench grinder... Just dont hold the knife there for ages, you gotta bring the knife to like 200 something degrees (celcuis?) to actually ruin the heat treat anyway.

I like the first version myself. Throw some Tommythewho wood scales on it afterwards and that thing would look sweet.

I look at it this way, If I can get 3rd. Degree burns holding my knife then the HT is most likely ruined. :D

I really like option one. It gives it almost an upswept blade profile, which is probably my favorite out there.
