For 2011 I have made a few plans.

Keep a few knives on hand for immediate delivery. (keep an eye on the "Available Now" sticky)

Bring out a basic line. ($75 for knife with no sheath, $85 with sheath) One is in process right now.

Possibly a few new models.

Plan a "Gathering" for April or May. Hopefully a few new members will join us.

Do more hiking with "The Boss."

Sell off all my factory knives except the ones that have special meaning, and my Bucks. Just keep my users.

Make a few more knives for myself.

What are your plans or goals?

Lose 15 pounds. Get back into teaching martial arts. Stop spending so much on daily things that I could get at home - lunches, coffee, etc. Sell more of my knives. Spend more time w friends and family.

My goals for 2011:
Get married
Start writing the sequel to "Deadly Vanity"
Earn rank in Shorin-Ryu
Spar more (I'll be sparring some Kyokushin folks on Wednesday)
...Compete in a tournament
Finish making my nuntebo

Lost about 30 pounds, Go to Sniper school, Hike and Camp alot more. PAY OFF BILLS. :)

Start a new career that will take me into retirement.

Teach my stepson to lead climb and hand over my gear to him.

Hike up Mt. Katahdin (our last state summit east of the Mississippi).

Hike, ride and paddle more.

Jeff

Your plans sound like good ideas John.
As for me, I'm planning to start a new career. I'm looking at a couple of possible choices but not sure which direction to go yet.
I will lose 60lbs this year.
I will be home much more this year.

Complete my first year of PhD course work.
Get under 200 lbs.
Take my new JK knife hiking and camping much, much more.

Do a lot of reading. I received like 6 books(probably 2600+ pages) over Christmas and my Birthday. Hopefully most of them get done in 2-3 months.

Don't get hurt while working/working out. I worked out a lot during 2010, but as always, I got hurt myself either doing it or at work. If I ever went 2-3 months without hurting myself, I would be amazed!

Get all A's in my final semester of college, which is way too hard for the final one.

Get a great job after I finish college.

Make a Knife this year.

I would also like to bag a big tom this year and maybe get the hang of a diaphragm call.

Hi Stomper -

I plan to spend more time with my granddaughters - I want to try to get them over to my house at least every other week for an evening.

I have been pretty good about working out 6 days a week - and I have lost 30lbs in the last year, but I would like to lose 15 more.

I am planning to ride my motorcycle out to the Pacific Northwest - see Yellowstone and Glacier, and the Buck and Kershaw factories.

I would like to host a gathering downstate.

I also want to host a passaround of a JK knife too. :D

best regards -

I plan on spending more time in the woods with my nephew. That is my one and only real 'goal'

There will no longer be an ad in Backwoodsman magazine. They decided to raise the rates from $110 per issue to $300 per issue! Also, they do not reply to emails, and did not change the current ad to the new photo.

Well that sucks! Sorry they're being idiots, John!

Hi Stomper -

Wow - they must be pretty proud of those ad spaces.

Make sure you let them know that they priced you out of the market, tell them that you would continue to place ads at the old rate and see what they say.

Never hurts to let them decide if they want business or not.

I decided this was the year to visit a college friend in Ohio and high school buddy in Ft Wayne, IN in March. Still a long way from Mokena tho.

I included a letter with the payment for the Jan / Feb issue explaining it all.

I have a few things that I want to accomplish this year. I started running about 4 months ago to get into better shape. My goal is to run a mile in under 6 minutes, I've broke 7 already so I'm plan on doing this one.

I want to save more money, which is kind of hard to do with this whole knife addiction thing but I'm going to be a bit more selective in my purchases. Maybe sell off a few(not my JK's or Bucks though).

Spend more time in the woods, I work waaaaay too much and need to get out a bit more, even if it's just for a day.

Completely butcher a deer, I always send it to a butcher but I would like to do one myself. Along with this I would like to tan the hide, looks time consuming but doesnt appear to be real difficult.

So those are a few but we know the old saying...The best laid schemes of mice and men go often askew...

Good luck everyone on your resolutions.

Definatly keep the Bucks, besides my scout knives, that`s all I plan on keeping.

I have a laundry list of things to get done around the house here. Finish putting up at fence, redo my sprinklers, fertilize the lawn, build a sliding gate into my yard from the alley, finish painting the spare bathroom, install the sink and toilet in the spare bathroom, move and rebuild a small pantry...... .the list just keeps going. :)
