So I have some plans for some changes to make to my Becker BK2, and was wondering what you guys thought. I'm thinking of getting some black micarta handles and making a completely black leather sheath, hardware and all. What do you guys think? I think it'd look pretty cool.

Put it on a surface grinder and grind .045 off of both sides then polish it up really good.

Do you mean to remove the coating? I'd prefer to leave the coating, since it will complete the "all black" look. Also I'd rather not have to hassle with the extra amount of care.

I am not up to date on Micarta Scales but do they sell a black Micarta Scale?

If your going to leave the black coating then your limited to just putting on new scales and maybe a para-cord lanyard.

I gave my suggestion, take it or leave it, good luck.

Black micarta handles can be found on eBay, or I could get KA-BAR micarta handles and dye them.

At first glance it seems like a good idea, although you'll need to dye the micarata, it doesn't come black by default. And later on you may develop the desire for brass or stainless steel hardware, and a brown shade of leather. But maybe you won't, I really don't know.

Anyway your idea sounds better than mine. When I get a BK2 I'm putting a ranger band on the handle, mounting an orange paracord lanyard for high visibility, attaching an ESEE 5/6 accessory pouch to the front, and figuring a way to mount my BK14 sheath on the reverse side.

Well, that's not exactly what I would call a "mod", but whatever floats your boat.

Go ahead and "murder it out". Why not? Take pics.
