I love the old style plastic clips on FRN Spydercos. I own two plastic clip Delicas and three plastic clip Enduras. I bought my wife a FRN Dragonfly which also has an integral plastic clip.

Are there other models that originally had the integral "plastic" clips? I would like to know so I can look for them on e bay which is where I find most of the old style Spydercos. I have even found some in new in the box condition. I like AUS-8 and Gin steel so the lack of the new steels is not a concern.

Hey Laredo,
There are still 2 or 3 of us around who like the old style clips.
I didn't know the Dragonfly had them.
Thanks for the tip.
The Pro-Grip still has the plastic clip.
(Those metal clips are rough on
car doors and dining room chairs)

I'm a plastic clip lover too! I managed to find the "last" of the Enduras made with the FRN clip for my EDC.

Yeah - the Dragonfly and Pro Grip are the only ones I'm aware of with the FRN clips.

I'm sure it is actually cheaper to manugacture with the integral clip - I guess Spyderco is ensuring they are keeping in tune with the latest trends (metal clips, reversible).

Maybe they shoud make a "Classic" series with integral clips and a lower price point.

I love the idea of the "Classic" series. Especially with the new VG-10, flat ground blade. I like the smoother profile and thicker handles on the integral clip models. Not in a million years, but, uh, can I get a red one?:D Leo G.

laredo,
I have a yellow rescue that has the intergral clip. Got it from Japan.

Thanks Doc. I did not know the pro grip had a plastic clip. I just bid on one on e bay. If you want a Dragonfly, be sure you look at one first. They are good knives but very small. I have trouble opening them with one hand which is why my wife got the knife.

Laredo, I love the plastic clips too! In fact, I also have 2 Delicas (both combo edge), 3 Enduras (all full serrated--what's up with THAT?), and a PE Dragonfly! Plus a Pro-Grip PE!

And I'm always ready for MORE. :D

Both types of clips have their pros and cons. I find the plastic clips are too loose for thin dress slacks (I almost lost my first Endura once or twice because of that), but shine in sweats or in swimsuit waistbands.

I have both types of Delicas, and my blue Delica is usually carried at work, in those thin dress slacks.

I LOVE the idea of the Spyderco "Classic" series! However, I don't think it'll happen due to SKU issues--they don't want to overload on too many SKUs for some reason.

And oh yeah, Spyderco needs a nice CUSTOM SHOP, too! :)

I recently found a used FRN clip Delica with the old blade style, much to my delight! I have been carrying it around constantly since finding it a couple of weeks ago. I too enjoy the non-scratching effect of these clips. Last summer I put a nice, long scratch in the paint on the door of my truck while out camping, when my Military in my right front pocket dragged alongside the vehicle as I inched my way towards the drivers seat while parked up close to a tree. I learned the clip scratch thing the hard way.

Long live (in our hearts and collections anyway) the plastic clip!

Drew, thanks for the tip on the Catcherman. I just looked on the 1SKS site and I can see I will be getting one of these soon. I got outbid on the pro grip but I will continue to look for both the pro grip and catcherman in the future. I really had no interest in either of these models until now. This is why I like this forum.
