I posted this in the WSS forum but haven't gotten an answer. I figured the Machete Gurus over here may be able to come through with an answer...

Machete Gurus,

I have seen 2 types of plastic machete sheaths in my travels.

One appears to be made for (or maybe by) Ontario and claims to be the real issued plastic machete sheath. They run $20-30 a piece.

The other ones run $10-15 and are generally called something like "G.I. Type" plastic machete sheaths. I have one that is marked "1991 Machete".

Do any of you have both? Is there any real difference in quality? Does anyone have a reliable source for the real issued sheaths (my go to source Machete Specialists have been out of them for some time)?

Thanks!

Make one. It's WAY more fun.
This one cost me about $15.00 all together to make and took just a few hours. Now it replaces my day pack in the heavy bush.

BTW it is an Ontario 22" bladed 'chete. Modded a bit. ;)

That's a great setup you made for your machete! There's a website for guys that make their own tactical sheaths, pouches, vests, and so on, but I can't remember the name. These guys make some great things, and a lot of it is better than what a lot of the tactial nylon companies make. If I new how to sew I'd make my own gear in a minute. Nice work bro!
