Plastic ring?

Got my first Spyderco today, a Fred Perrin Street Boss. I love this little blade but I was wondering what the little plastic ring with the Spyderco symbol on it is for? Is this something that comes with all Spyderco knives?

If its what I am thinking of, then it is a "guard" for the tip of the blade. Usually comes with their fixed blades.

That little ring prevents the spyder from eating it's way out of the box during transportation. They love biting finger tips.

Ya the street beat is one cool little fixed blade. It's one for darn sure that will never get sold or traded. At least from my collection at is
