Plastic rivets for dive knife sheath?

I am hoping to make a sheath to go along with a dive knife. But I didn't want to use metal rivets. Anybody tried plastic rivets to make a sheath?

I found some r-tite and r-loks that I thought might work (?)

Am I correct to assume you mean for a kydex sheath? If so, there are a few alternatives to brass rivets. I've seen sheaths sewn with various thread/wire and sheaths that have tabs cut and folded back on themselves. You could always go with the plastic screws.

Take a look at MSC Direct too... they have LOTS of fasteners. I would think aluminum or stainless might work for this project. Try searching for screw posts, chicago screws, hollow rivets, binding posts or sex bolts. I have seen some grommets with long shafts too, but they were way too big for a sheath.

Thanks for all the responses, really want to keep it non-metal or 100% rust proof.

Has anybody seen anodized aluminum rivets?

Most of the standard black kydex rivets are actually made of brass. They won't rust.

Brass, nickel silver, aluminum are all rust proof.

Aluminum will not rust but it can get a little pitted in salt water.

I might go with brass covered in black anodize. I didnt realize they were brass!
