plastic sheaths

i have the Gerber Bg knife (bought before i even heard of Bladeforums) and the big black plastic clasp at the top is now really loose can i use a lighter to heat it up and re tighten it or do i just need to get an all new sheath

I wouldn't use a lighter, since plastic can burn really easily. Depending on the type of plastic, you might get by with a heat gun, or maybe even a hairdryer. Or perhaps a dunk in boiling water.
