I removed some wide window blinds and before I toss them I would like to know if anyone has tried them for handle spacers or liners? They cut like a type of plastic. I would hate to hear after the toss they were usable. Thanks for input.

Interesting thought. I would test them with epoxy for hold if they glue up and hold to the point that you have to break them apart then they should be good. Some poly vinyl doesn't glue well.

My experience with blinds has been that the plastic becomes brittle with age. I'm not sure if it was because of sun exposure. Although vinyl can become brittle with age.

I about cut a slice off myself to shape into the top part of a SAK toothpick, because mine was recently thrown away after I left it on paper towel while it was covered in pipe resin from a camping trip (I ain't using that thing as a toothpick, and if I really need to, I got an SD for that), so I grabbed this SAK ripoff I had, got the toothpick... it was a bit misshapen, but my intention was to saw it off and leave just the cap to add in a needle and thread in the hollow where the toothpick is. So, I start filing the plastic over the trash, drop it in, search for an hour, and turns out it bounced into my hallway. Now I'm trying to think of alternate uses for my awl, but to expound on this any furthur would be off topic

I was looking at all kinds of things to cut up, plastic dental toothpick/flosses, carving one from wood, but then again, this is a plastic cap that was once a toothpick, not a backspacer, so I'd go with DM and all's advice.

All good points made for sure. Just want to be sure I didn't miss an opportunity to save money. Been a member 16 years, have a few thousands in equipment, have watched a lot of videos, read books ,talked with a few professionals. Have a mentor and started trying my hand at this. I have machining experience and am sure I will be fine, but getting close to 70, I just want to avoid as many injuries and mistakes as I can. Lol. Now Praying my mentor will recover from having stroke 3 days ago, and I don't know how severe it was yet. Thanks everybody for time spent commenting.
