Plate quenching thin 52100?

Having read Larrin’s latest piece on knifesteelnerds, I was surprised to see the cct chart for 52100 and the 20 second window for quenching. My question is, do you figure a plate quench on .058 52100 is fast enough to achieve full hardness from a 1525 austenizing temp?

52100 has significantly less hardenability than O1 or O2, and those oil hardening steels are borderline for plate quenching.

I wouldn’t do it, even if you achieve full hardness, a faster quench might be better for 52100.

Care to elaborate? Less RA or am I missing something else?

I am working on some headknives and have a sheet of 52100 specifically for it. What I am nervous about is warping on such small pieces.
