I have a KMG grinder with an adjustable platen for different angles.
I am wondering how many of you set the platen on a specific degree of angle when flat grinding different sizes of blades. I want to do this when grinding a locking liner knife that I am finishing up. The blade is ATS 34 and is .125 and 3 inches long?
Anyone have certain a certain degree of adjustment for this size of blade, and other larger fixed blades that you would share with me. I am sure some of you may not have adjustments platens or perfer to just freehand, but I am not that good at this point.
Thanks,
Jon
I have searched the archives and am unable to find any information.

I grind freehand on a vertical platen. There's really no other way to do it; setting angles and rests will just mess you up. Good luck and keep at it, everything will come around.

what Dave said...just do it...trial and error. Good luck :D
