Terry Primos sent me this shot of a platypus he had just finished. Not just any platypus, this particular one has my name on it. He said as soon as the sheath is made it will be headed my way. The wood is Thuya Burl. Yea!:D

I believe Terry forges his blades from high carbon 1084. Flat ground blade. Like I said, knife is not here yet so I can't give you the exact measurements but the platypus blades are around 3 1/4" or so. Terry added a red spacer behind the guard and added the thong hole which I believe is somewhat rare on this model. In the process of getting this knife I exchanged a few emails with Terry and talked to him on the phone. Others will tell you and I can now confirm that he is a really nice guy. One heck of a knifemaker too. Can you tell I am excited about having this one on the way?:D

As you should be. It is a beauty. Are you going to put it to work? Congratulations again. Hope to see some more pics when "she" arrives.

Congrats on the Platypus! I can't wait till mine is done!

Congrats Thomason, it looks to have evolved a little from the first one made. It is a fine knife to both ogle at AND use. I'll see if I can post a pic of mine.

Trying to post again....dammit. I already posted it 3yrs ago, and cannot seem to delete it to repost.:grumpy:

Very, very nice one, Mongo. After I ordered mine I went-a-googlin' around to find pictures of them. I found many and there were a lot of little differences between them. That is a cool thing, little differences in the same model are what makes a hand made knife special. Reminds me of the scene in "Forrest Gump" when Forrrest is talking to the lady at the bus stop and says, "Life is like a Primos Platypus, you never know what you will get". ;)

Nice try Thomason!

I really like Terry's knives. The Platypus isn't my favorite design of his, but I do think it is pretty cool, and it probably does the job just fine.

She has arrived. Check out that Thuya wood. It's official now. What with this one and an El Camino I got from Madhatta on the sale forum a couple of weeks ago, I am a Primos groupie.
