Play in Supertool 300

I've been using and carrying a supertool 300 the last couple months. Great tool, however, when it's in the closed position there is some play on the non pivot end. This is due to the pliers pivot point being loose a bit at the beginning of the closed position. It opens about a 1/4 to 1/8 of an inch when closed. It's not a functional issue, but it's a bit annoying.

I have another supertool (picked up 2 of them since Walmart had them on clearance) and a Rebar. Neither of these have that issue. Though, none of them have seen quite the bit of use the other has.

Is this common?

Has anybody got any easy fixes?

Thanks...

My 4 year old Super Tool 300 shows no play at all, but may not have been used as hard as yours. Frankly, though, I don't see how that can't be a functional issue. Why not contact Leatherman directly and ask about what you can do? They might simply say send it in, but it's worth a try.

Every plier tool I've owned save my Vic has done that eventually. If I'm understanding your situation. They do wear in over time, and the joints to get a bit slack. I could bali-song my LM Pulse open, up until the blades loosened up enough that the action would swing out the blades from time to time. Granted that took a decade, and the pulse doesn't have the extra spring that the super 300 and rebar have in the handle.

I wouldn't worry, they are tools to be used. But if it does bug you, take some good photos and send an email to LM, they are awesome folks.
