So Arkanian was kind enough to send me a Bk2 and this morning i took it out to the woods and tested her out.
First things first my impressions.
-Its HEAVY, i gonna have to get used to it. Chopping with it definately made my forearm sore but as Derek tells me, thats because I am weak, i'll get used to it
-It does chop pretty good, not a good as the hachet i brought out with me (but that should be obvious) but a sure sight better than any other knife i currently own (including the ka-bar)
-i dont know why, but it definately left a sore spot/bruise on my pinky, not sure if its an ergonomic thing or just bad technique, more practice/outings required
-It wont replace my "system" (my system is a sak, a necker and a 12" ontario machete) but if I could only take ONE knife, this would be it, it doesnt do anything great but it can do everything good, an amazing single tool if you could only have one
remember though, those are impressions after just one short outing, it is subject to change with more experience.
anyways on to the pics. First a few pics to show where i was. This again was o the natchez trace, just north of jackson
And here is a pic of my cheapy hatchet and the bk2
Some branches i practiced on, testing the chopping
Finally, i found a downed cedar tree, so i decided to see if i couldnt chop through and bring home a section
will I be able to do it??
although to be fair, i had to switch half-way through to the hatchet due to my hand hurting ....
