Playing in the cold today !

It was very cold and frosty out today but the sun was in the sky so for me that was perfect !

I think Santa must have been hiking around here cos there were parts of his beard everywhere !

Very Christmas looking eh !

I decided to get a bit of a fire going to keep me warm while I drank my tea~

There is just enough coating worn on my Chopweiler now to use it with a firesteel~

My little rest spot~

As we made our way back I wondered why this part of the trail seems to get steeper everytime I do it !!!

At least I had something to look at as I climbed~

Nice post. I enjoy your photos, but I think they would look better if you didn't use the lomo, or whatever effect it is you use around the edges. Personal opinion, of course.

Love it, never seen that Santas beard stuff before. If I remember correctly you said in a past thread that it's some sort of fungi? Have you touched it? Looks like it's feel like dolls hair or something.

I like the lomo(or whatever it is) effect on the pics, gives them sort of a vintage 35mm film feel.

The 'lomo' look referred to is actually called a vignette.

A vignette is usually present in images taken with cameras whose lenses present an image circle smaller than the media thereby causing the outer edges of the media to not have adequate exposure. It's *not* necessarily 'vintage' film.

There are digital filters/effects which attempt to emulate how poorly exposed film can look and/or apply vignette's (much as seen in some of these images).

It is called many things. I know it as "hoarfrost". It is a formation of ice crystals.

Great photos! Had to query the "cool" formations in photos 2 & 3. Your santa's beard. Found excellent photos and description on Google searching for "ice formations on dead wood - hair ice"
