Last time I had posted a fella told me to put the camera on the beach and snow setting-Not much impressed!
Headed out today to shovel across a couple avalanches that cross the old mining/logging road that heads out to one of my trapping camps.
Here we still have much snow although its leaving fast
The slides, you can see evidence of my last trip out
Starting to profile the slide to get the snow machine across
The snow is so hard that Ive taken to use an adze to chop the snow then a shovel
This year we have had record snow levels again. An early thaw and a rain brought down avalanches in places that Ive never seen before
Managed to get across the avalanches, rode halfway to the camp to make sure my makeshift bridges are still in place.Turned around and headed out.
Tomorrow I will head back in and spend a couple days shovelling @ my camp.
Heres where Im thinking a migrating merlin plucked a small bird (thinking Redpoll on account of the feather colours)
Had a nice lunch sitting on the sled - no fire today too busy.
Heres my blade for the outing.A gifted Unki Gumbi, beautifully built, maker wasnt too sure on his heat treat but so far so good. And thanks again getting some nice use out of that blade!!
Heres one zoomed picture of the amount of snow poised and ready for sliding on a mountain top across the valley from where I was shovelling.Watched one slide from that side while I was working. The sun was shining on that side.Snow ran for 10 minutes and it sounds like a jet plane crossing the sky
Amazing and beautiful to experience
See that shadow all along the top of that ridge-cornice! Tons and tons of snow up there
I was accompanied by my ever faithful friend and buddy
Had a good day .Set myself up for a direct hit out to my camp.Which will happen tomorrow
