This is not a Sign up Thread!!

I have been a member of a Cigar community for a while now and they have a thing called "Cigar Bombing" they pick a worthy recipient and pack up a bunch of sticks and bomb the individual. In turn the person that got bombed is then required to put a package together and pass the bomb on to another worthy person.

I got to thinking why not try this with knives...

The Idea:
We would start a list of Makers that would be willing to make a knife and pass it on to a member on the list (their choice). They in turn would post up photos of the knife they received along with a critique and a thank you. Then it is their turn to pick a name (not already picked previously) to send one of their custom made knives to.

1. We would need 10 - 15 names before the bombing begins
2. I would start the Bomb from the 10 - 15 names
3. Names would be crossed off as they are bombed
4. Names can be added at any time
5. There will need to be some type of Ability Qualifiers (Much like the KITH participants)
6. Those that sign up must understand they may get knives from newer makers like myself (This is for fun!)
7. This is about giving... NOT RECEIVING a Knife

This thread is just to test the waters and get some suggestions.
The floor is open

Curious on how this differs from the KITH? So someone is making a knife for a person on the list, instead of it being randomized?

Personally, I see a lot of flaws in the plan. Specifically:
1) There is every likelihood that it would be a popularity contest, and the most favored folks would be the ones sent to. This would slowly eliminate them, but it could be a long time before a lesser known maker got bombed ( I also don't like that term).
2) While someone can bundle up a box of cigars in five minutes, most folks take a little longer to make a knife. Using two months as an average, that means the #15 guy on the list would wait close to three years before he gets bombed ( still don't like that term).
3) it only takes one person to fail to make and send a knife and the chain collapses.

The KITH has everyone getting their knife at the same time, and time limits. No knife done and you aren't in the KITH.

Ryan, I like the concept, but as was said not applied to makers. I can see this workin with off the shelf items (like cigars, production knives, shaving equipment, etc), but I think the KITH covers the general premise of give a knife, get a knife.

Maybe propose this in the custom forum with some of the collectors there, obviously I don't think Loveless or DHIII or knives like that will be given, but maybe for some smaller knives it might work.
