Took a few pics today with my new toy Sony S700 camera of a recently finished 52100 bowie. I feel I need to work with the lighting/settings more since the plunge on the blade is not showing as well as I would like. Any suggestions.

Was it throwing a flash? If so then add more indirect light, enough that the flash doesn't go off and that should help out. Great looking knife by the way.

Thanks for your feed back Burton. No - I had the flash turned off. I am using a light box that I recently built out of heavy 1 inch foam board modeled after Coops plans. The back of the box Is now painted a dark non glare brown. Its my thinking that should get rid of the background light bouncing back. Will see later on today when the paint dries enough to give it a light snading. Even a flat paint has some glare.

Thanks again,

Jim

Beautiful Bowie and sheath Jim.
I see on the gallery that Coop is teaching his heart out on this subject.

I have sooo much work to do before Eugene. We are leaving Friday at 4 am. Are you sure youre not going?

Pretty positive at this time, small inventory, no table and no ride. However will be there next year. I am getting around like a young buck these days.

Have a good show.

Did find the Coop tutorial in the gallery, big help.

Thanks

Changed lighting, camera settings and played with backgrounds and like this one better. This is a mirror finish with a convex grind so now the plunge is visible.

That's much better!!:thumbup: Good & sharp and better lighting.

Knife looks great!

Thanks Randy. I think it is more work or effort to take photos that folks are expecting to see then it is to make the knife itself. I guess it will get easier in time.
