Nice!! I have never tried to make a patina - they just seem to come naturally!

Onions seem to have an almost immediate impact on the 01 steel, even though I am religious about rinsing and wiping my kitchen tools immediately after use.

I like the blue almost "opalescent" patina that you got there - I have seen this on a couple of my knives - but less regular. It almost looks like anodizing! Maybe that is a new technique, mustard anodizing!

BTW - is that a KYe custom lanyard?

I am so happy to see the Stubs getting used - keep those pictures coming buddy!

best

thx mqqn. no that lanyard is just a small piece tied on. i should get one of his though....yeah. i like the way the patina turned out. the blade does look anodized/blued. my knives also form their patina with use, but this way i got to control what it looked like. :P i also found that garlic as well as onions immediately darkens the blade....so does cutting through raw steak. my v.a.k. from josiah gravelle ended up with a mean patina tip:

Looking great T.
I like the look of a forced patina & have used mustard for it too.

That looks great. Nice work. You definately have more control using mustard over vinegar. Both look nice though.

Right in with the forced patina, I like your style! Knife looks fantastic, only 2/5 blade I've seen that does't look like a 2/5 inch blade, :p

just seeing this T. love the pics of the Stubs. for that matter....i love the stubs. great looking patina you ended up with.
