Any of you guys going to this show in a couple of weeks?

Should be a killer. I am working late hours trying to get my pieces comlete for this one.

The whole concept of the show (if you guys are not familiar with it) is to provide collectors a chance to purchase knives that are unique in some way to the makers offerings, one of a kind pieces or new models from the makers in a relaxed setting. All of the makers are invited, and are to display between four and eight pieces on Friday night. A box will be adjacent to each piece, and the collectors have tickets for each knife. If the collector wants to purchase a specific piece, he drops the ticket in the knife's box. At the end of the evenning, the tickets will be drawn to see who gets the knife. It really makes for a relaxed time where makers and collectors can talk without the worry of "all the good knives" being sold in the first minuites. The knives are priced, and it is not an auction, but more of a lottery system.

The hotel ballroom overlooks the beach, has an awesome buffet and carving station and cash bar. The list of makers is humbleing for me, and a real honor to be included. Dan Delavan's website www.plazacutlery.com has a complete list of who will be there. I will post a couple of pictures of my knives later this evenning.

Saturday will be open to all as a one day knife show. Friday is by invitation only, and it costs $85 to get it. If anyone wants to come, let me know, or contact Dan Delavan and tell him I sent you. Do it asap as he has to get you booklet ready and let the hotel know a head count for the buffet and such.

Hope to see some forumites there

BTW, I will be driving with John Fitch, so I may be a little slap happy at the show fro the drive and all the funny stories John has.

I'll be there. I can't wait. I started collecting about 18 months ago, and have "picked up" about 40 great knives. I might want to sell some at the show to help "upgrade" the collection. I'm looking to sell or trade Steve Schwarzer's "Hunters Dream". Is it OK to bring a few knives along to sell or trade?

I don't think it would be a problem to bring a few for Saturday, but the Friday night show would present a different problem. There won't be any dealers set up at the show, but there will be several there to buy. I would guess your best bet would be to present the knives you have for sale to them in the bar or over dinner outside the show. Less chance to ruffle any feathers.

I would love to see "Hunters Dream" anyway, so please bring it by.

here are a few pictures of a couple just about ready to go. The interframe need a bale, and the folding bowie needs to have the other side engraved.

The interframe has a blade of cpm-3v, 24k gold borders and deep releif banknote engraving. The inlays are mastodon ivory.

The folding bowie has a blade of two bar twisted "w" damascus of 15n20 and O-1. The blade measures 6.5", and 10.5" overall when open. Mastodon ivory scales and 24k gold overlay engraving with 24k gold borders.

Let me know what you think

Those are both terrific Bailey! The engraving on the folder is outstanding and I like the clean look of the carbon steel blade on that one. The damascus folding bowie is just outrageous! A folder that we fixed-blade guys can truly relate to. ;) Beautiful damascus pattern for the blade as well. Thanks for the peek - wish I were goign to be there.

That folding bowie is terrific

ehh, it's allright. :)

Seriously, that's one of the nicest damascus blades I've seen from you, Bailey.
