I've been looking for one for a while and can't seem to find any companies that sell them in the US. It's driving me nuts because they seem to be dirt cheap in the UK. I've been checking Army surplus stores for months with no luck. Anyone know where to find one, especially on the cheap?

Wow, thats the first time I have ever seen one and it is just what I am looking for to make my Maxpedition Devil Dog into more of a day pack/overnighter. If you are able to find one stateside please let me know. I will do the same.

Finding any kind of Brit gear in the States is tough. Your best bet is probably to search the Int'l sellers on ebay for one.

I don't know what kind of ends you need but the Tactical Tailor X-Harness is a similar design. It's more expensive but it's a high quality piece of gear.

Thanks Blackhills, that has some promise.

You're welcome. I have one and I really like it. There aren't any ends on it, it's just straps (and they're very long so you can cut them to length).

Since I wasn't familiar with the Devil Dog I googled it and it looks like it has a belt. If you want something to transfer some weight to your shoulders the old style ALICE LBE harness might work. I'd suggest the early H version rather than the later Y version as I think it spreads the weight out better. Both versions have a metal hook on the ends. I'd think you could find one of those at an Army surplus store pretty cheap.

Thanks BlackHills. That's a cool looking piece of gear. It doesn't look like it will work with my Snugpak system though, which is my main reason for wanting the PLCE yoke.

I may be able to help with issue Brit kit. Shoot me a pm with the stuff you're after i'll see what I have spare.

Either that or I can forward on stuff if you can't find someone willing to ship to you.

i've got the Tactical Tailor harness already mentioned, and i also like it, but as an addition to my MAV from the same company.

i've also got these, which i have used several times to convert large fanny packs and messenger bags with - the sternum, strap makes these really nice when the buckle on the belt of your pack is undone.

you can put two or more bungie loops on the belt grabbers on them, for a shock absorbing multi-point harness.

........

that all said - have you seen RIBZ...?

i've been using these lightweight altrernatives to heavier packs and they are wonderful. i even dove in mine.

RIBZ are good little lightweight, cheap LBE, especially when added to a datpack and such for an extended carry.

when you call RIBZ - you usually talk straight to brother ray, the owner - tell him vec sent ya, i guilt him into buying me beers.:thumbup:

HTH.
