Greetings , though I would share. I along with several of my coworkers are, you guessed it, knife nuts . Most people either associate me with knives or fishing. One day a coworker from another department asked me if I knew who Bob Loveless was, I said of course, so he asked if I would like to meet his nephew. Totally caught off gaurd, obviously I said yes. The next day I was introduced to him, hell of a nice guy, I had so many questions but kept it simple not wanting to put him off. Not only did we talk about Bob and his shop, but also as the type of guy he was. I was told Bob would rather talk about other things than knives but knives and his shop were his life. Not to be rude, I also had questions about him as well. Really nice guy, easy to engage with. I asked about wait time for a Loveless knife , I was told 3yrs. Too long for me to wait and heaven knows I don’t need another knife but if I were younger……..any way just wanted to share, thanks for listening. Troy

W.A.S.P's bassist moved into my friend's mother's building, I imagine it must be a similar feeling, except you get to be introduced 😂
That's really cool, though! Yeah, unfortunately I'd imagine someone like that has discussed everything knife related twice over... or, you know, had a lot of repetitive questions asked at him.

Interesting! It would have been cool to meet a knifemaker that knew Bob. But apparently, Bob Loveless and Jim Merritt wanted the shop closed after their deaths (see: https://boblovelessknives.com/).

Also, there's a thread here with some more background.

Fun Fact: It is believed Bob Loveless made his last knife in the early 1990's ... then Jim Merritt and Steve Johnson (and a few others) started to take over and make the knives for him. It is also believed that the last knife Loveless made was a Big Bear Bowie that a customer ordered 27 years earlier. Bob sold it to him for $600..which was the price of the BBB when the customer ordered it 27 years earlier.

There are so many interesting stories surrounding Bob Loveless. I'd love an opportunity to speak with anyone that knew him.
