Hi Folks,
New to Blade Forums, but not new to knives. My name is Bob Picklesimer and I live just outside Cincinnati, Ohio. I really can't give a good reason for not posting here before as I joined some time ago, but I'm a life member of the Case Collector's Club and have been on AAPK (All About Pocket Knives) for some time now. I joined AAPK soley to help out the new guys just getting started in repair and restoration which has been pretty rewarding, but since my name has been mentioned on BF a few times, I thought I'd test the waters and visit a spell. I've been a collector for as long as I can remember and started working on folders about 20 years ago. After a few back surgeries and another on the job injury after that, they decided to force me into retirement which gave me lots of time to work on knives full time. I don't make blades or heat-treat, but have done everything else to a knife you can think of. My handle on all the other forums is "Elvis" which I also have here, but since I forgot the password I can't use it and decided to go with Elvis Earp (singing cowboy? :) ) to help my friends from the other forums find me here. If there's a sub-forum on repair and restoration on BF, please help me find it as I'm sure I can offer some help to those with questions or wanting to set up a shop of their own. Politics and Religion are something you just won't get me to talk about here. Knives? You bet! I come in peace and would simply like to contribute when I think my knowledge and experience will allow. That said, I learn something new everyday and probably will until they start tamping sod over me, so the only attitude I bring is a love of knives, their history and helping old ones come back to life. Making a few friends along the way would be a big bonus too. If you already know me, please post here so I know who you are on Blade Forums. Take care and here's hoping for a good experience with Blade Forums.

Bob

Welcome to the forums Elvis, this group of men and woman here, are among the nicest, kindest, respectful group I have ever associated with. Sorry about your back, that's a tough one. There's a huge traditional crowd here, endless info.

Welcome to BF, I don't belong to any of the sub-forums I'm just an old fart that loves knives... :)

Earp is it? I never liked an Earp, but I'll drink with them! Welcome to the forum and like Krav said, sorry about your back troubles. It did however close one door and opened another one, knife crafting and making, I envy you. Elvis, good on ya.

Welcome to the BFC community the largest and most knowledgeable knife site on the web.

Here you'll meet collectors, custom makers, manufacturers, purveyors anybody whose anybody in the business. So she back read the stickies at the top of each forum and subforum, read more, post less and by all means read the TOS,(terms of service) agreement you clicked on.

Looking forward to seeing you around the forum, one last piece of advice, fill out your profile info it lets other members know a little more about you then just that you're a new member. :)

Bob,
Welcome to Bf's, Your knowledge of repair of traditional folders is greatly welcomed and so are you!

Thanks for the welcome folks! Mr. Erdely, as far as reading more and posting less, this thread contains half of my 4 posts to date, so I think I've complied there. As for terms of service, I've got nothing to sell and only advice to give and only then if it's asked for. I've already mentioned I'm new to the site, but far from new to knives. I have no intention of getting in anyone's way and only ask the same in return. If I'm already being told what to do, I can leave as easily as I came. I've already said that I come in peace. What more is there?

ADDED: Apologies to everyone, but I now see that this is his standard welcome. While a total rookie might appreciate it, someone with my experience does not. Just saying.....

Welcome, I try to greet as many new members as I can, this place as you know is a wealth of information and has the largest variety of subforums of any knife site, that combined with the individual subforums business can be confusing to a new member.

Yes my getting was a form letter getting aimed at new members, there was no disrespect intended and I do apologize if you took it that way. With school getting out and younger members signing up for the summer my only intent was to advise a new member the best I knew how.

Again, welcome, (back :) ) looking forward to your posts. BTW did you try to see if a supermod or spark could reset your password?

Thank you and once explained, I do understand what you were trying to do. Your welcome is very much appreciated. A simple search of my name on this forum brings up quite a few mentions. Although I'm not vain enough to have read them all, I suspect at least some of them are good as are my intentions for being here in the first place. Every time I tried to get "Elvis" back as my handle, I was met with automated responses that basically said to give it up and log in as something else. So many folks around the country (and in a few others) know me by that handle I really felt it was a hindrance to log in as anything else, but my desire to commune with fellow knife lovers finally overcame (Hence the "Earp" that you wouldn't drink with, which was taken in fun). Now that we're back in sync, I look forward to being able to contribute here on BF as soon as I learn my way around and figure out the best way to do it. Again, thanks for clearing things up and I hope we become allies to help keep Blade Forums great reputation well deserved (I will need some time though. There are just so many things here to click on). ;)

Welcome to you too Rennie. It looks like we'll be learning to navigate this site together.
Best of luck!
Bob
