If you guys could release them I would buy a few. LC200N is such a good steel for this usage.

There's a large market for a top of the line spearfishing knife with good general utility. Maybe a Magnacut version as well, and general update would make this truly exceptional. Thanks for your consideration

Are you willing to pony up the money for new FRN molds? It'll probably only be a hundred grand or so.

The molds for the Fish Hunter (and the Aqua Salt) were reworked from the Vagabond, introduced in 2005. After 19 years of three models, the molds simply wore out. Sales of the Fish Hunter and Aqua Salt together simply weren't enough to justify investing in new molds.

Thanks for the info. I’ve been wondering what happened to the Fish Hunter.

I’d love to see a PE model in Magnacut or LC200N

I've always liked the look of the fish hunter. I didn't realize FRN molds were so expensive. Could it be said FRN handles are more expensive/ difficult to make than G10 or micarta ones?

Making the molds is a huge expense, but once that investment is made, FRN handles are much less expensive per piece. But you have to make (and sell) a lot of pieces to recoup that cost. G-10 and Micarta don't require those expensive molds, but the machining cost and material loss through machining is much higher per piece. FRN makes sense for high volume models, other materials make more sense for low volume models. Spyderco's fixed blades have been lower volume than their folders.
