I believe this one turned out pretty close to the picture I was going by of the original. The original was made by the Ames sword company. This one I did has a 10 1/4 inch double edged blade forged from 5160 round bar,The handle is ebony and the ferrule and domed pins are Nickel Silver, the sheath and guard are brass. The original was gilded brass but Pete said to stay with the brass only.I don't know if he is planning to have this sheath engraved or not.
What are your opinions...Did I get this one close?

Beautiful knife how do you make the scabard, 2 halves or wraped joind on one side or something totaly different.

WOW! That is abosolutely stunning Bruce!!! :D

How in the world do you keep your centerline so sharp? It looks like it could cut just as easily as the edges. And super plunges too...the grinds just look perfect, that's all ;)

Very very cool Bruce, thanks for sharing!
Nick

Bruce it looks like it just jumped off the page! That grind is awesome, but you better tell Donna to watch out or she'll get cut!

Zowie, that's cool, thanks for sharing.

Wow,now that's Gorgeous! looks sleek, fast...and those lines are beautiful...the knife aint half bad looking either:D :p ...all kidding aside, that's an Awesome piece Bruce!

Nice job Bruce
and a little red always goes well with a Blade :D
Donna your killing me:eek: you make that Bikini
look like a million bucks.

Bruce, your worse than me. I call everything a bird and trout knife and you call them all Bowies.....oh well, a rose by any name....It's beautiful and that grind line is good even by what I expect from you (that means it is unbelievable for us mortals)...love the design but the workmanship is something else. As usual, Donna spoils the knife picture (can't find the knife in the second pic):D

Thanks for the kind words everybody:cool:

Reg,check this tutorial out on my site and it will show you how to make a full metal sheath:
http://www.homestead.com/beknivessite2/nssheath.html

Nick,I forge in the bevels then scribe a line down the center before I start grinding then I pray allot and do a little dance to the grinding gods and hope it comes out straight:D And then I am very careful when hand sanding and using the palm grip sander to keep the line straight..

Peter,I guess I call these Bowies because they came from the Bowie knife book;) and I really don't know what to call it.Is it a Dagger or since it was made by a sword maker is it a short sword:D

Roy,I didn't know that there was any other way to grind a knife besides free hand:confused:

Donna says thanks for the Kind words:confused: She is glad you guys like the Bikini but says that she isn't that pretty and says that she is to fat:rolleyes:
Thanks again guys,
Bruce

:D WOW Bruce that bowie is great and I love the two level handle. Maybe I will be able to have my work come out like that in twenty years or so. You give me something to aspire to.
