OK. So i've been following Swamp Rat for years. Then Scrapyard Dog came out.

Haven't been to the Swamp Rat site for a looooonnng time, til today. Went there to order a design i'd been planning on buying, and found it was gone. Went to Scrapyard and it appears that Scrapyard pretty much adopted Rat's old designs and materials, and Rat is starting to look way more Busse! And now the old Scrapyard designs i remember are nonexistent. Sorry, the names escape me.

Forgive me if this is a dead horse, but my searches were fruitless, and I'm positive the folks on here could cure my ignorance.

Was there a deliberate rhyme and reason to this, or is it just my imagination and bad memory playing tricks on me??? How similar are Scrapyards knives to Rat's original versions???

The Scrapyard knives are very similar to the old Res-C Rats. Some of them are made using a different steel though (SR77) but they do also use the RATS SR101 and occasionally Busse's INFI !

I think the business model for each company has influenced their designs and materials more so then say each company trying to differentiate their designs from one another.

If you liked the old school rats with res-c I think you would like what the scrapyard offers. They both are releasing a new series of knives soon.

Pretty much what I figured. Was hoping they were exactly the same as Rat's early creations. I'm gonna do some research on their sites as well. Thx for the responses.
