That is a Modern Ka-Bar knife. You can tell by the fact that it has an Epoxy Powder coating and serrations. Not sure when that coating came out on this knife or the serrations, but it's with in the last 20 years or less. It has a 7" blade and is about 12" in over all length.
The handle is stacked leather. The leather is glued/epoxied then compressed in a vice then attached to the tang and polished. With use they can and do darken.
According to Tomar's Kabars (A bladeforums dealer) you have a model #1219. If you go to his website, look at the menu at the top, in there they have a link for Army Ka-bars. The #1219 is the first one on that page. The handle in the picture will be a light tan/oak color. Some are light like that one and some are darker. I bought a 3/4 USMC Ka-Bar back in 2000 and it had a darker handle then the one pictured on Tomar's site. After I used it for a while, it got even darker.
That website will give you a good idea of what a Brand New in Box Army Ka-Bar goes for. Here it is on Kabar's Web site:

Leather, even the same part number from the same tannery can come out slightly different colors. I work with brown leather a lot and buy it by the side. Some brown hides will be slightly lighter or darker then each other. This applies to all leather. If you look at the picture on Ka-bar's website you'll notice that some pieces of leather that make the handle are lighter and some are darker. Also as I said earlier leather darkens from use. Oils and sweat from your hands darken it, add exposure to sun light from use or sitting in a window and that will speed up the process.
I hope all this information helps and that you enjoy your "new" Ka-Bar.
