I want to get myself a birthday present....Ha Ha, good excuse huh! I have been eyeing the Spyderco Brad Southard flipper and the Spyderco Tuff. I love Spyderco but I do like other knife manufactures too. I have some benchmades, kershaws, mcusta, etc. I'm looking at these two Spydercos and have heard great things about both. Any experiances on them would be appreciated. My price range is about 180-250. Steel is not too important since i already have many differant to choose from. Any suggestions would be very apprciated. Some other knives I've been looking at are the Gayle Bradley, Techno, Houge ex04..... I really love the Spyderco Phoenix but can't find it. You see my problem....I can't make up my mind. Leaning towards the Brad flipper and Tuff. Thank you guys and have a great day.

Yes the PM2 looks like a great knife, I will end up getting it soon. Right now I have a little extra cash and it is easily available for about 130. I guess I wanna know if the Brad and Tuff are worth the extra money. Mr. D'Borg, I have a ZT 0561 flipper and I like flippers, liner lock n everything else.

I don't know much about 3V, but I know the Tuff is heavy. The Southard is tough but smaller. I've heard the Southard and PM2 compared as similar knives for purpose and cutting ability. I myself cannot stand framelocks, especially those that are two toned. If that bothers you or the Southard doesn't have a steel insert, I'd leave it be.

It seems like you already have an overbuilt knife from ZT. If I were you I'd go for a more efficient slicer. Something light that is always with you.

Personally though, I find the compression lock and axis lock to be much stronger and faith inspiring based on design.

Some other compression locks are the Szabo, the Superleaf (heavy duty short blade), the Yojimbo 2, and I think the Junior.

Remy Kaze, yes I totally agree with you on the axis and compression locks. Actually that's why I want the PM2. I have a Bench made Rift with axis lock but nothing with compression lock. I love my Manix 2 with caged ball lock. What do you think about the ball locks?

I have a tuff, Gayle, and have a few friends with Southard. I would go for the Gayle for the money it's hard to beat very smooth. Also maybe you would like a domino been carrying mine for a week.

Do you have a Spyderco Military yet? Your budget could net you a sprint run with higher end steel than the baseline S30V model.

Tuff -- No
Southard -- absolutely, assuming you like flippers.

Just my 2 cents.

Thank you everyone, I have been thinking about it for so long that I have been able to save a little more cash, now I'm going for the Gayle Bradley AND the PM2 digi cam n black blade. Thanks again for all the help!

Lets us know what you think of them.
