Ouch! That pains me just to look at. If my family did that, my kitchen knives would be under lock and key. Luckily for me, even my 9 y/o knows the good knives get hand washed immediately after use.
I don't have an answer for you, but some suggestions...
- Find a local knife maker in your area. They may be able to put some new scales on for you, in the material of your choice, for a reasonable fee.
- If you're the handy type, you may be able to put new scales on yourself. Would take a bit of work, but might be a fun project (asking in the knife makers forum for advice)
- Replace the knife. Hate to say it, especially with decent Wusthofs, but it might be the cheapest and easiest. Especially if it's just one knife
