Went to my favorite knife shop today and was told that there is Black Leek with the Exact finish I love. Call me different, but I LOVE a shiny knife and that includes Black. I have a CRKT with what I would call a gloss black finish and he showed me something like a microscopic version of a Leek (probably less than an inch) with a super high gloss shine to it. The only black Leek he had in stock was a flat black.

So, does anyone know the name of the finish, or the exact model of Leek I am looking for??

Do all Leeks come with a max blade of 3 inches??

Thanks much.

I am guessing you saw a boron chive. The black comes from the boron carbide that coats the surface. I think the model number for the leek version is 1660BLK but I think that it is no longer in production. I have the boron chive and have been trying to find the boron leek for my collection

The Boron Chive is model 1600BLK (I want one!). The Boron Leek is 1660BLK (I have two:cool: ). All leeks are the same size. I guess you meant the BLADE was less than one inch? The chive's blade is 1 15/16 " technically; not what I would call microscopic, but small.

Below: The black knife on the left in the middle row is a 1660cktst, the knife to the right of it is a 1660BLK, with a 1660BG below.

Oh yeah, by the way, I love Leeks.

There were TWO versions of the Black Boron Leek - one with gold screws and clip and the earlier version with regular polished steel fittings.

My review -

Black "boron" Leek

shown with the Black Boron Chive.

I was told at one time by Kershaw they had changed from black boron coating to tungsten DLC coating (see review thread for more info) -
however all the other tungsten DLC coated Kershaw knives are matte, as opposed to this polished/glossy finish.
