Hi all, I'd like to appeal for help with this knife if I could.
It seams to be similar to the Trooper - it's the same sheath, size and design apart from having staghorn handles and a different pommel. It is one piece construction, double edge (sharp) and mirror polished.
I will date at least pre-92 as that's when the original collector died.
Any help appreciated.
thanks for looking
Luc.
p.s. can do more photo's on request.

This should probably be moved to Mr. Levine's forum here at BF.
You'd have a much better answer from the experts I'm sure.
Maybe the mods will get it over there for us.

Unless of course Dave knows the answer. (he always knows) :)

I've seen that knife before...but I can't remember where I stored the picture of it...anyway, Dave can give you an answer.

Thanks for your help and comments guys.
as a noob to the forum I cannot do searches or access the memberlist - there would seem to be no way I can mail Kershawguy, could someone let him know?
thanks
Luc.

They did a number of variations similar to the Trooper...one of them was the Special Agent, although I've only seen it black-handled.

This could be a bone-handled version of the Trooper or the Special Agent, or something else entirely.

It's quite nice, whatever it is! :)

It's our model #4470. The name of the knife is the Survival. Originally produced in 1984, and was discontinued in 1987.

Thanks for your help, that was just what i needed.
Lots of appreciation for the knife, and I agree it's a beautiful thing (especially in the "flesh" the photo's can't come close to showing that mirror polish).
unfortunately, and not least being in paranoid London doesn't help, I may not be able to keep it.
Luc.

Hang on, hang on.....

I need a valuation first, and I only said I may not keep it!

Unfortunatly I need to buy some left-handed shooting equipment as I have destroyed my right shoulder so cannot use my current stuff.
And it's all expensive....

What happened to your right shoulder, if you don't mind me asking?

It's very silly actually .......
I have a radio control model submarine. It didn't work. When this thing is full of water it's heavy and when it doesn't work you spend the day lifting it in and out of the water. When I next came to shoot (10m match air pistol, freehand) It hurt to lift the gun to position - next week I couldn't. Doctor reckons that I had a small injury anyway that the weekly shooting prevented healing and the sub just blew it. I have about 10% of normal movement on that shoulder and it'll take a year to recover. But i will not be able to take the weight of the gun at extreme articulation unless I risk a repeat injury - each time I injure it I will get less movement back due to a build up of scar tissue.

So RSI of the shoulder I think is the description.

Anyway back on topic .........

There were several knives in this series, the one you have is my favorite. They were all made in Germany by Anton Wingen Co. for Kershaw, the model you have has brought consistently over $200 on the bay in mint unused condition. It was sold in a set of three also, it was the middle one for size, the largest being the "Bowie "and the smallest being the "gamekeepers Knife " yours was as Thomas said called the "Survival Knife " Very nice piece !!!
