I had jumped the gun and bought a knife on eBay without proper research or identification. I know it may come back and hurt me lol.

But the other bad news is that the description, was pretty vague, and their was only 1 photo that I will include.

Do you guys happen to know what model it may be, and would you happen to be able to tell from the one crappy picture I have if it may be fake?

Please reply if you can. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks Brad.

The model number can be found below the butterfly logo on the blade.

Pretty knife BTW. That one was fairly desirable some time ago. Might still be.

Thanks my friend. I just bought it on eBay today and haven't received it in the mail yet. But I wanted to do a little research on it before it got here. I haven't seen one like this before, I'm still a green horn lol. But it was for sale for a pretty good price, and I thought if it was real it would be worth the risk.

Do you happen to know the name of series it's in? Or how long it's been discontinued?

Thanks again Brad.

It is possible the knife they send you will not be the same as the knife in the picture on the seller's page. As in they may put a picture of a real one and send you a counterfeit.

I thought the real one that came in that colour option had a pocket clip that was more polished and bright as opposed to the duller grey frame.

This thread is so old, Stabman is posting about liking "Nine Inch Nails" AND "Metallica!" :D

The magnet test is usually a pretty good indicator...but by the time you're able to do the test, it's probably already too late.

The Benchmade 635 pictured in the OP, somehow doesn't look right...but I'm not an expert.

I've owned quite a few of both the 630 (my favorite), and the 635's. IMO, the Skirmish model's are a couple of Benchmade's signature knives!

The serrations don't look like benchmade serrations. Too shallow. Plus, the swirl lines in the handle are further away from the indentation.

I hope you didn't spend too much. That is definitely a fake.

There are no screw heads on the presentation side. The clip is not recessed into the handle. The spiral pattern is off. The clip-side pivot hardware is flat, not domed. Serrations are all wrong. there is no sharpening choil. As far as I know they've never done a DLC handle.

I would request a refund. Counterfeit knives are made from pot metal.

Thanks guys. I feel like such a putts lol.

I always usually remember the saying, if it looks too good to be true it usually is lol.

And I did pay above $100 and that's way to much lol.

Thanks so much guys. This is definitely one of the best forums out today, you guys are the best.✌️🖖😀😬

An FYI Brad: About 3 years ago, I purchased a Spyderco Military Orange on Ebay, which turned out to be a counterfeit. Once I was able to prove this (with both Spyderco and a dealer's assistance), Ebay refunded me 100% of my investment under their "Buyer Protection Policy." I also was able to keep the knife (which I donated to a USMC buddy to take on a deployment).

Good luck!

its a fake. you can tell fakes are fake alot of the times based on the rulers in the picture. if they are not in, inches, its most likely a replica. not always, but almost always.

Looks fake to me.

The magnet test is usually a pretty good indicator...but by the time you're able to do the test, it's probably already too late.

I'm glad you corrected your statement because this is 100% not true. Ebay will side with the buyer for almost any reason....

OP how much did you pay for that? cause its not even worth more than $8.00

Total fake. Serrations are wrong. Handle screws are wrong. Swirls on the handles are wrong. Clip is wrong.

It's a fake and you're not a Putz. Unless you know what you're doing it's easy to get taken. That's a good copy; it's just not right, doesn't have the look and feel of the original Skirmish. Hope you can get your money back, good luck!

Sorry for not replying for so long lol. I have been so busy in the classified section purchasing real authentic knives lol.

But I spoke with eBay before the seller was able to ship the item and they canceled the transaction before it progressed into any further crap lol.

But another Ebay blunder occurred when I ordered a Gerber money clip from over the ocean lol. The pictures they displayed were real and the item I got was not the same item they showed lol. But I also got refunded after a long wait and some broken English gibberish slash bickering from the seller lol.

But I have learned Don't Buy Crap Off Ebay LOL. Or at least quality knives.
