This is an old Tanto Blade Balisong that my brother gave me about 10 years ago. If someone could help identify it I'd be appreciative. The blade is stamped "Taylor" and "Surgical Japan". The handle is solid stainless steel with real wood inserts. I'm guessing this knife dates around the early to mid 80's. The action on it is good for it's age and use.

You'll have to type them in your address bar because NBCI refuses to let me link directly to pictures.

Cam,

HOW IN THE HECK!, did you know all that stuff? Did you find it on a site somewhere or in a book? Either that or you are a walking encyclopedia of knife information. I couldn't find any information on it by myself and in less than 10 minutes from my post you have it all. That is friggin amazing. Thank you.

Mark

Funny how that happens isn't it! Brace yourself, these boys (and girls) are just warming up!

Welcome aboard!

I got one balisong that I bought sometime in the late 80's. Can't remember exactly, but must be around 85, 86.

It has a sabre grind tanto (not chisel), blade thickness a bit less than the PC international series (I have them too). The handle is solid milled brass (I don't see the cast mark leftover, and the slot on the handle looked milled), skeletonized but without the two small holes. Not countersunk.
On the blade tang, the stamp is: 440 Stainless Japan. Very nice. The handle is a bit short though, if you latch it closed, it will contact the tip of the blade.

Can anyone tell me the actual statistic of this (maker, etc.)

Thanks!
BTW, the price I bought it was around 30 US$ (in local currency of course)
