Hi all! New to the site, so please be nice! :D

Got an unusual (what I believe to be) multitool / knife here (not very 'multi' as it only has one tool made in 3 sizes). The tool is marked as follows:

I.XL
G. WOST(E)NHOLM
-(E)L(E)BRATED

[The parentheses are my best guess, and the - is where a 'C' should be (I think) and is not.]

After doing some research, I've concluded it's a George Wostenholm piece, but when it could have been made and what it was used for is unknown.
(I know about the I.XL Celebrated series, but don't know how this would tie-in)
If anyone has any idea, please let me know!

Note: Appears to be brass / steel.

Try searching for "fleem knife" or "fleam knife". It is an old bloodletting surgical tool.

That was FAST! Thank you very much! I appreciate it!!

Oh - and just for the sake of interest, also found a pair of old Civil-war Sharpshooter's spectacles at the same thrift store as well. Not a bad day at all....

Happy to help, and welcome aboard. For future reference, Bernard Levine's Knife Collecting & Identification subforum is the best place to go for information on old knives and odd tools like this.
