Please help, is my Kershaw Chill fake?

Hello, I've googled my ears out. I've created this account as a last attempt after Kershaw seems to have ignored my email.

I bought a Kershaw Chill from ebay, only because the seller was very close to me. I want to emphasize that this knife is awesome. The build quality is excellent and I really can't imagine that it's fake. I think kershaw may have changed the design. Plus the ebay seller has a 99.6 % good reputation and seems to specialize in this kind of product.

However, there are two features missing from my knife. Pretty big features. If anyone has purchased this knife recently, or has an educated guess, I would be interested to hear. Here are the inconsistencies:

1. The blade is not labeled 8cr13mov. I've read here that laser markings change sometimes.

2. The inner linner is not skeletonized at all! it weighs 2.18 ounces instead of under 2 ounces. This seems like a big deal.

As I said, everything else is absolutely perfect. The other laser markings are accurate and the knife is solid. Thank you very much for any information.

Very unlikely that it is a fake. It's a $20 knife so I don't think counterfeiters are going to be able to beat kershaw's price

Agreed, it just seems so weird to stop skeletonizing the liner. And not label the steel.

Kershaw is having problems with their email system. I've been waiting two weeks for a response. I'd recommend calling them!

Thanks. I just called and talked to a lady. She told me to email them with photos. The email address she gave me was different from the one I used the first time, argh. Haha. So I sent a nice email and now I wait.

Sounds like it's just an older version.

it is real, no different than what I have on the shelf. No one is going to waste their time counterfeiting an inexpensive knife and do it that well to boot. Relax and enjoy your knife.

I knew it... I haven't owned many knives, mainly because I use them lightly and keep them for years. But I just knew, from the kershaw logos and excellent quality, that this was a legit kershaw. It was just a bug in the back of my mind and your authoritative answer was all I needed to hear.

Thank you much, and everybody else, for replying so quickly and informatively. This is probably the best experience I've ever had on a forum. I'm definitely remembering this site.

For anybody wondering, the Kershaw Chill is a really slick little knife. It's sleek and thin, but for a city boy like me it's the perfect mix of classiness and ruggedness. It locks tight with the slightest opening. It has brass/bronze washers. Just feels great. Thanks again!

P.s. This guy, Kershawguy, has free shipping on all orders. That's where I'm going next time.

Dave to the rescue, once again!

And to the OP, please keep dropping by. There's a lot of awesome people on here and the wealth of knowledge shared on this forum is second to none.

Thank you! And definitely. I spent a lot of time looking at knives because I'm on a serious budget. I've always liked knives but during my search I've been getting sidetracked, reading these forums, watching videos, knife making, sharpening, ect, and seem to be picking up a fondness haha. Thanks!

If you like the looks of the Chill check out a Jess Horn Spyderco. Something you could save up for.

Just bought a 25 dollar Kershaw oso sweet everything looks right except for the R in kershaw that's printed on the blade and also like most picture I have seen the steel is not printed on the blade.. I know it would be silly to counterfeit a 25 dollar knife but can't tell if it's real or not

I have two of them. I sanded off the pickled finish and put a satin finish on them. The other modification I did was making some wood scales for them. Great knives for the price.
