I am looking for a new knife, not for necessity, but because I have to scratch an expensive itch. What is the coolest knife out there right now that is $60 or less (preferably less)? I am not new to quality, I am a BM fanatic, so I want it to be well made. I would like it to be under 4" blade, I think 3" or 3.5" would be ideal. I am looking at Kershaw, especially the Storm I, Mini-Cyclone, or the Speed Bump. I am also considering an Ambush or a new Mini-Pika. Any suggestions? I would like to hear options from other companies as well. Thanks.

Since you'e looking at Kershaw, look at the JunkYard Dog also.

How about a Boker Trance for a nice compact working knife? If you really like it, you can get in touch with potterma on the Boker forum here and go for an upgrade. :D

I also like my new camo SOG Flash 2, which is easily within your budget.

If you want something different then the Kershaw Groove is neat and very smooth. GOOD LUCK! Kevin:)

How about a ZDP-189 Delica? A great knife with exotic steel for right around $60 at everyone's favourite pharmacy. :)

If you're looking for "cool," probably one of the coolest knives out there right now is the Kershaw Cyclone. I work at a knife shop, and out of all the knives we're carrying right now, the one on the top of my "to-get" list is the Cyclone. It's on-off assisted opening system is outstanding, and the full flat grind will aid immensely in cutting efficiency. The only downside is the size of it in the pocket. Other than that, that would be my suggestion.

I am really considering the Mini-Cyclone, but it looks cheap in the pictures. Does it look different in person? I already have a Delica, and I am really looking for something different. The groove looks cool, but I am not sure how I will like the striations. I looked at the JYD, but it is kind of ugly looking to me, and I think I would hate the pocket clip. I think I would like a Blur, but I would wait until they switch to Sandvic instead of 440. Thanks for the suggestions and keep them coming.

If you want a cool knife to play with, the Kershaw E.T. is right at your price range, very good quality, and a COMPLETELY different sort of folder mechanism. Take a look at it and see what you think.

And if you're tired of black handled knives, if you buy it off the Snap-On tool truck it comes anodized a great dark red. :)

The Cyclone is anything but cheap in person. It doesn't look or feel cheap. Anodized aluminum handles with steel liners... It's a very solid knife, with a fairly hefty kick. If you can handle one, you will be impressed, I think.

the nrg from kershaw looks cool, and is around your price range. havnt played with one yet, but it does intrige me. the speed bump is a great knife

The Cyclone, Speedbump, and the Storm all are options that I am strongly considering, but I will wait for more suggestions.

Well you won't believe the quality of the Storm II for the price. Plus you'll have enough left over to buy something else.

I like my Mini-Cyclone. It has a nice solid feel in the hand. When the assisted opener is off, it has a nice and smooth action. When the assist is on, it is just fun to play with. But it does feel a little bulky in the pocket, so I just use a belt sheath when I carry it around.

I managed to find a NIB Strom I for $25 on knifeforums. Do you know if they used another steel on the older Storms?

Nevermind, deal fell through. Still up for some more suggestions. How do the Speed Bumps compare to the Cyclones?

In that range, I really like my Spyderco Dragonfly in stainless steel. Good blade, looks cool, fits my hand, doesn't look too scary if I use it at the office.

I own a Junk Yard Dog, but i just dont care for it very much. The blade didnt come very sharp from the factory, the knife isnt bad, it just dosent do it for me. The Speed bump is a great knife tho. Shaving sharp factory edge, super quick to open and close and that recurve blade has amazing cutting potential. I think i just convinced myself to buy the Spec bump too. The only downside is that the fine point would probably break pretty easliy if used for any prying. But who would do that with a pocket knife anyway ;)
