I currently carry a Leatherman 830300 c301 (blade lenght 2.8", overall 6.84") and a Kershaw Whirlwind (blade length 3.35", overall 7.75"). They are both combo edges. I like them both. I want to try another brand such as Benchmade, Spyderco, Sog, etc.

I am looking for something that has a thinner handle/grip/profile. I also want a plain edge preferably not hollow ground. I want the blade length to be in between what I have 2.8-3.25" so maybe around 3".
My limit is $65 shipped. This will just be used for minor everyday tasks and defense if needed.

Also I don't want another Kershaw, leatherman, Gerber, or CRKT unless there is one that is really really nice.

I am thinking about the Spyderco Delica FFG knife but before I pull the trigger I wanted to know if there are any better options that meet my above criteria.

Before I read the last sentence of your post, my brain was saying "tell him to get an FFG delica from knifeworks." That is my final answer. Make sure to get an avant-gard color :) Let us know what you decide.

How about a BM Mini griptilian? The handle seems a bit thick kind of like my Kershaw Whirlwind. If it is that much better than the Spyderco Delica, then I can spend a few extra bucks on that.

I would have mentioned the mini grip as it is an excellent knife, but you said you did not want hollow ground.

That is true on some mini grips but some variants are not hollow ground i believe such as the 556 model. Now it looks like there are several variants of the mini griptilian. Do you know which one would be the better choice?

Get the Delica FFG and you will not regret it. I have a Delica 4 that I sent off to Tom Krein for a FFG. Great all around knife.

Go with the FFG GREEN delica, or whatever color you want. Just an excellent working knife.

Delica is nice but it is a lock back. I much prefer the axis lock. The 556 is not hollow ground. The mini-grips also have the full liners so they do not have the loud clack opening like the full sized ones.
