Please help me find a Spyderco that meets these criteria...

Hey guys, I have a subordinate who has done great work for me lately and I'd like to give her a knife as a thank you/work tool, since she's constantly borrowing mine. Ain't that always the way? Anyhoo, she really likes my little Nishijin Cricket, so she's very stuck on Spyderco as a brand now (no problem there).

She's a small woman, so I don't want to get her a big knife, and her coworker already got a Dfly2 from me last year so I don't want to repeat myself. Also, she likes blue, so I'm aiming for something in that color scheme. So we're hunting for a smaller (sub 2.5" blade) Spyder in a shade of blue that's $40 or less. The sprint run Ambitious would've been perfect but that ship sailed a couple of years ago, and thus I put it out to you fellas: any ideas?

Can't really think of one that's blue and also under $40... A blue nishijin cricket or spin would be nice. More than $40 though. Ladybugs and manbugs can be had around that price but don't come in blue.

The blue makes it tough.

There is the Kahr arms Delica in blue.

There is a standard blue Delica.

There is a blue Roadie.

The tattoo Ladybug or Dragonfly are nice gifts.

There are also the Spin and Cricket in blue nishijin.

There were some purple Dragonflies that may still be around. Not sure though.

None are $40 though...

I hope this helps. :)

Its a bit over $40 but I would go with a blue Delica. The Delica platform is really hard to beat.

Purple Dragonfly 2, regardless of what you gifted previously

I'm going with some of the others and voting for the Ladybug, Manbug, or DF2. IMO the DF2 is a lot of knife for the size and price.

Thanks for all the input so far, gang...the knife needs to be over 2" since it's occasionally going to be pressed into cardboard cutting duty, and a ladybug doesn't give a whole lot of handle to grip either. And the DF would be a contender, for sure, but as I mentioned I would like to give her something different than my other supervisor (though she loves her orange DF).

I'll look into the Delica, but I think it might be a touch big for her. Thanks again, please keep the ideas coming!

(and that ambitious is sold out on BHQ, dangit)

I'd go with the Delica for her. Its not TOO big. I have carry one of those Crickets, and the Nishijin one is really nice and fancy.

- Check out the Nishijin Spin (it comes in Blue) - but that might be TOO small. The Dragonfly is probably the best/top knife, but if you can't get her that, get her a Delica and she'll have it and use it forever.

If you could find one of those older Jester models>> I'm speaking of one I used to own>> it was a Micarta handled, burgundy colored Jester and for one of Spyderco's micro sized folders it was the prettiest one I ever owned. The Micarta handle made it really rigid and stout>> much more than the FRN small Spyders were. If you could somehow find a older, used DODO model that would be the "Cat's Meow". The reason I mention that is because I have a couple of them and it seems like women are really intrigued with the DODO model. Also a Caly Jr. with VG-10 or ZDP-189 would be a nice small knife as well. Keep us posted and let us know what you decided on.

If you start finding $40 Dodo's I"m in!

OP just google "blue Spyderco" and look at the images. I saw a few links to blades for sale now that could suit but they weren't at site kosher sources.

I'm a woman with small hands and the Delica is not too big for me. I held off buying one for a long time bc I didn't think I would like it. I was 100 percent wrong. I love my hap40 Delica :)

If a blue Spyderco is really a priority then I have to echo the blue Delica. It isn't that much more.

Are you willing to do a little tweaking to a handle that's not already blue? That might open your options up a bit.
