Hello! I am brand spankin new here on bladeforums although I have been lurking amongst you for quite some time. I have always loved collecting, looking at, playing with, sharpening, and basically just enjoyed everything about knives. I have a knife I bought when I was very young, and for the longest time it was my favorite knife. I now realize how cheaply made it is and therefore the lock on it fails horribly because it's so old and now it just sits in my collection... Anyways, it's made by a cheapo knife brand called "CHEETA", and I used to see these knives at mall shops, tobacco stores, etc., but I can't find them anywhere anymore, or anywhere online. I want to buy a few more of these if I can just because it used to be my favorite knife, and also, I got to thinking... These cheapo brands LOVE to copy high quality brands, so maybe this knife is a knockoff of a higher-quality knife somewhere out there! And that would just make my year! So if any of you recognize this blade or handle style, PLEASE let me know where I could find one like it. If nobody here knows, then nobody anywhere knows... Thank you!

This knife is a speed-assisted liner lock stamped "CHEETA" on the blade.

I've never seen anything like that.

Luckily, neither have I.:foot:

 Nope... I think it is safe to say, That is not a copy of a high quality knife.
Hmaster, we all have our favorites, but I'll bet if you do some more searching, you will find many more knives that you like just as well, or better.
The choices are endless. And just because a knife is old, is no reason for the lock to fail.

A good start would be to look in the catalougues and web sites that have the cheapest, lowest quality, Chinese imported "knives" they can find.....

Do you want to carry a knife or a prison shiv? I wouldn't even call that a knife. What are you cutting with that thing?

There are so many high quality knives out there. Really you can just take your pick, but you may have to choose from a useful pattern instead of whatever that is.

hokutomaster: welcome to bladeforums. :)

I left a visitor message in your profile with a link to an internet seller who carries a model similar (almost identical) to what you're looking for.

Back before I got serious about knives, I would buy one or two "gas station specials" a year, usually junkers that were fun to mess with and modify. There were a couple dozen designs that were all very similar, and the manufacturers would recycle the same models over and over, with different names.

I looked for a Smith & Wesson knife for a couple years to replace the one that got me into knife collecting back in 2005-2006. I finally decided not to buy it, because there were so many other good knives out there on the market that I liked better.

I'd say hang out here, learn all you can and buy something a little more practical. Nothing against the one you're looking for, but there are so many others that are better suited to daily carry & use.

It has lots of premium knife features! It's double ground, it has lots of holes drilled in the bolsters and even the blade for weight saving, it has a convenient and "beefy" giant flat-head screw-driver pivot, and it even looks like the thumb studs might double as the blade stop as on lots of robust designs. In fact, a lot of those features it shares with custom Strider's! (not knocking Strider. I own and like Strider's). It's got some serrations that might be considered a little on the aggressive side, but hey. :)

(Just joking around, not trying to be a dick to the OP)

Ummm.....Ok if you like this "style" or "design" or "look" or whatever, then there are some custom makers that produce knives kinda with a "futuristic" or "artsy" look. Now be aware that these are anywhere from $500 -. and a waiting list that is long. Start with a maker such as Yuna. I'm sure our more knowledgeable members could steer you towards some others if you are seriously interested in custom knives and not the cheap flea market knives that we all started with. :o

mike franklin makes knives with a similiar look, but that quality is closer to mtech.

Orca. Thank you. I am aware of that HAWG design on that site, and even also owned the etched version years ago... I actually just made my first purchase from that site, and was disappointed because it actually took more than three weeks for delivery, and didn't even get what I paid for so I don't think I'll be ordering from there again. I am looking specifically for the 'CHEETA' brand model, simply because it's auto assist, but can't find them anywhere on the WWW. I have tried as Haze suggested, to browse the chinese knockoff crap sites and wholesale sites, and can't seem to find them anywhere. CHEETA, MTech, Jaguar, DEFENDER, I am not so sure these companies even exist, it might just be something they stamp on the blade for a joke (Although I have had many MTechs and actually used to kind of collect them...). And thank you Nagod, those Mike Franklin knives are possibly just what I'm after, in fact, I found a model he makes called the 'Hawg'.

Beautiful knife...

Thank you all for your input, even the critical stuff =). I knew I should have posted earlier that I am well aware of how "tacticool" and mallninja-ish the knife I am seeking is, but surely most of you can empathize with me on the sentimental value of your favorite old knives. I appreciate a well-made custom and love the feel of a high-quality, non CHINA or TAIWAN stamped blade, I just want an upgrade or maybe an extra of my old time fav. And Frenchmade, don't be so harsh, because what you're seeing is love and passion for a knife, something I hope I'm not alone on bringing here with me ;).
