where can i get refractory cement? ive called all over my area and nobody has it.

ideally i would like to cast my own heat treat oven. either using gas as a heat source or using elements and a controller. probably gas for my first one. i need to make this small (renting right now) later ill probably invest in a good oven.

anyhow, i think rlinger cast his own forge? anyone have any tips/where to buy the materials (locally hopefully...cuz shipping cement im sure is expensive)

K&G sells satanite in 5 lb tubs, you can coat your forge or your blades with the stuff www.knifeandgun.com its under forging materials

That stuff is heavy. I used most of a large bag to pour a rather small forge. Must be at least 60 lb. bag. Look in the Yellow pages under Refactory. If that doesn't work call a couple local plants to see who services their ovens. Who ever does will know all about it and probably has some to sell you.

any particular brand name? or just ask for refractory cement?

is it temp. rated for a certain temp?
