Hello all. I've decided to get a new knife, and would like some suggestions. First off, I want a folder that has around a 4' blade length...more of a tactical/utility style. I'm looking for a steel that has great edge retention and is also durable while not too difficult to sharpen. I'm only familiar with Spyderco's CPM-440v so, I don't really know what other steels are good. A lot of the knives I like are 154CM however, I don't want to be dissapointed with the edge holding. Also, I don't really want another liner lock right now. If possible, I would like to keep the price under $120. Any suggestions? Thanks.

It sounds like you're looking for a Benchmade 710. :D :) It has a nice big blade and the incredible Axis lock. The thing also cuts like crazy!!! Awesome blade geometry and rock solid.

I have the version with M2 steel, and I love it. The M2 is very easy to sharpen, and seems to hold a very good edge.

Ditto on the 710. Mine has the 154CM and holds an edge very well. The recurved blade is a wonderful slicer.

What do you guys think about vg10? I was actually looking at the 710 in M2. Nice knife.

DO you already have a spydee military, great folder. I think i am the only one here wo doesen't like the way the 710 feels in my hand. Just IMO, the lock is fabulous, the handle is just like a big block of g-10 however, I have small hands. Maybe think Axis AFCK or axis TSEK with 440c.

I already have a military, yes, it is a great knife. The EDC looks good but, a larger blade would be nice.

If you are looking at the excellent VG-10, along with those other features you are looking for, you need the Al Mar SERE 2000.
You won't believe this knife when you first handle it. It is awesome.

Of course, the 710 in M2 is awesome as well, but in different ways.

Both the 710 and the SERE are great knives. Don't force yourself to choose, buy 'em both.

If you like 154CM and are looking for a new lock, then the BM 710 is your best bet.

I just bought a CRKT Large Kasper/Crawford to donate to our church auction. There are really a lot of features for the money. The blade came very sharp (a trifle of polish would make it spooky), the grip was very ergo, the liner lock tight, and it had their LAWKS system on the spine of the handle. All for 40 bucks. I'm going to get one for myself.
