Hi everybody. Allrighty, so I think, i've narrowed my choices to the following two knives. Either a Kershaw Leek or a Spyderco Centofante III. Here's the way I look at the pros and cons for me. I would think that the Spyderco's VG-10 blade steel would be superior to the Leek's 440A. However, I like the assisted opening action of the Leek, and I prefer a liner type lock over a traditional lock back like the Spyderco. I can get either one for basically the exact same price, I'm justr not sure which one. I'll probly end up with both of them at some point, but for now I'll have to decide.

What are your opinions on these two knives. Thanks!

All depends on what do you need this knife for.
If you want to play, than get Leek.
If you need to cut, than get Centofante 3.

I'm a huge spyderco fan, but that Centofante III knife I don't like. It feels cheap, go with the Leek. I don't think you're looking to spend $100+ but I just got the ZDP189 Titanium Leek and it's awesome! But if thats too much go for the S30V and G10 version or the Rainbow Leek. And if that's still too much the plain Leek is still an awesome knife

Hi TxAggieA-Batt. 1st post? Welcome. Between the two knives you mentioned (both decent knives) I would probably go with the Spyderco. They make good, solid knives. The basic model Leeks seem a bit flimsy to me. There are lots of knives in that price range, how many have you looked at?

In that price range (below $50) I like the Byrd G10 Cara Cara (made by Spyderco) the best. They are ridiculously nice knives for the money. Comparable to a Manix but much cheaper. You can get a Spyderco Endura or Delica for under $50 if you look around. If you like assisted opening you could look at the SOG Flash 2. You could also get a Buck 110 if you like old-school, they are very nice.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

I don't think the Leek is flimsy at all. The G10 S30V can be had for around $80. I think some of the Sandvik Kershaws are intersesting as well and have great prices. Check out the Native at the evil WalMart as well. Great deal on a great knife.

For me it comes down to this, the more you add, the more that can go wrong. The "assisted" opening for th Kershaw is something that can fail. Not that it wont work after/if it does, but why do you need it really:confused:

From my experience, the one hand opening is almost as fast, and VG10 IMO is a better steel than 440A. IMHO that is a good trade off for a millisecond in how fast you can open the blade.
