I would like to assemble a folder with a 3" - 3 1/2" blade of tough steel, one hand opening, clip for my edc. I would like the blade to have some belly to it for skinning but not so much that it takes away from the every day tasks at work. I have put kits together before and even made some folders but I haven't come up with anything I enjoy carring every day. The kits I have purchased have been next to impossible to put together or of poor quality. I would appreciate some help finding a quality kit befor I waste more hard earned money. Thank you.

Could you tell us which kits you've put together so we can stay away from them? Thanks

I have tried kits from a few of the larger knife maker supply stores thinking that I will eventually find some quality. I still give them my buisness when buying supplies to make fixed blades when the smaller more personal outfits don't carry something. A vendor that specializes in kits or has an inventory that allows it to be very particular about what it offers its costomers has a better chance recieving my buisness.

From what I've heard, the Darrel Ralph Kits are the best.
I hope I'm not out of like by mentioning this, but the Knife Network has it's own forum dedicated to building knife kits.
Good Luck!

Definitely check out the DDR III from knifekits.com. I've put together several Darryl Ralph kits and they are extremely well made - something you'll be proud to carry. (Stay with the DDR series, GPC-1000 or the GX-6 and you can't go wrong)

Thanks Boozoo,
I got the DDR-1 and put it together tonight. In my opinion its well made and very clean. While some knife kits have given me fits in the past this one was very easy to build. I can't decide on scales, bloodwood or blue g10. I guess I can't go wrong. Thanks for the good advise!
And Walking Man, thank you very much.
