Please Help Me with ID'ing a Fixed Blade...

Hello All,

Fairly new here and just picked up a fixed blade that I am not real sure about. Does anyone know or have any information on it?

The stuff I do know:

Stamped in the blade, "440 Stainless Japan"
Opposite side says "Handmade"
After the word "Handmade" there is a Star with an "M" in it
8" OAL
3.5" blade
Came with a tooled leather sheath that has, "Japan" stamped in the back

I appreciate any help you guys can give me. I fell in love with it and had to have it!

Ichiro Hattori / Hattori Cutlery Co. H-109 Drop point Hunter for M-Star. Was imported by various companies and sold under various brands (Precise, Winchester, M-Star, Sauer, Wischo). It was even sold through K-Mart as the Sharp 1000S.

"M-Star" was a brand that was sold through K-Mart.
The knife itself was made by Hattori and sold under various importer brands.

I am guessing it isn’t hand made.

I have that same knife - with the Sharp name on it.
I ground it down to a ridiculously low angle around 12* or so to use it as a kitchen "slicer".
It's been fantastic for that.

It's also been 100% immune to water & has been known to spend a week or so at the bottom of the kitchen sink.

I consider it one of my better buys.
I bought it on a close-out sale from a discount store that was getting rid of all their sporting goods.

WOW Guys... Thanx for the quick responses!!

K KenHash thanx for that web site, very interesting! I spent awhile going thru it. I'd take practically any knife on there! As you can tell, I love this type of design.

Gee... "M-Star"... go figure!

Back in the 70's, it was probably a lot closer to handmade than most knives today. An actual person held the blade to the grinder, mounted and sanded the scales, etc.
