I'm looking for a small (5" OAL) fixed blade for EDC.

I've narrowed it down to either a Benchmade Snody Activator in D2, or a Bark River PSK in Sandvik 13C26.

I currently own Benchmades and Barkies, and like them both very much.

Thanks for your comments.

Thats a tough one. I don't care for Benchmade folders but I like their fixed Blades, you just can't go wrong with a Bark River. I would get them both.:D

OOPS! I already did. Sandvik 13C26 is very good steel, at least when Bark River does it.

If I had to choose I would get the activator. It has longer handle with scales already on it. You can already sharpen it with stones too. If you do not have convex edge sharpeing materials, you'll have to buy them too. I'm sure they are both great knives though. There is an almost religious following for BRKT and I've owned BM knives before as well, top notch stuff. They are both made in the USA too.

I'm a bit of a Benchmade fan, but I'm gonna' have to say go with the BRKT. Benchmade makes some killer folders, but fixed blades don't seem to be their strong suit (though they're very well made and they do get a few winners now and then).

I don't like the sheath that ships with the Activator.

Since the knives themselves are of very similar (high) quality, I'd go with the Barkie.
