Hi All!

Admittedly, I haven't stay up to date with knives lately. My first folder was a fantastic benchmade that I got in Boy Scouts. I decided to disassemble it and shave down some of the metal to make the blade come out with the flick of a wrist. Kind of ruined it :foot:

10 years later, I own a ESEE 4, Cold Steel Trailmaster, and a bunch of guns. However, I'd really like to have a tactical folder for EDC.

I'm researching but there are so many options, it's tough to figure out what would be best. I do know I'm looking for the following:

1.) Lightweight - can fit in dress pants without drawing attention.
2.) Must have a clip on it.
3.) Prefer it to be slim.
4.) Flips open easily and quickly.

What would you recommend in my situation?

SPYDERCO MILITARY.

:D

It is a lightweight folding knife with a slim profile in the pocket that has a ridiculous amount of cutting power. It's my favorite folder for EDC purposes and the one production folding knife I would keep if I was only allowed to have one.

It's truly an excellent knife.

I was looking around and I'm trying to decide between a Benchmade Mini-Griptillian or the Spyderco Paramilitary. The military may be a bit bigger than what I need. What do you guys think?

Benchmade 530. Doesn't get any lighter or slimmer in a "tactical" type knife. Sub 2oz. 3-1/4" 154cm blade. Axis lock. Skeletonized lined handle. About 1/4" thick.

ETA: Al Mar Ultralight series. Falcon or Eagle. Amazing really. The Eagle gives you a 4" blade of AUS-8 in 1.8oz. Handles are un-lined, but plenty sturdy. I prefer the original flat grind (not "Talon") blade.

Ok - after 15 minutes of research and your thankful feedback, I bought a Paramilitary 2 off eBay. lol. I'll let you guys know how I like it!

Good call.

I have to say that one of my favorite line of knives is the Ritter line from Benchmade, including the Ritter Grip and Ritter Mini Grip. Perhaps you'd like to look into one of these when your knife fund has some spare change in it.

If you're willing to possibly up the price a little bit, you may want to check out the Benchmade 940. Outstanding knife.

Oh ya that Paramillie 2 looks freaking awesome. Disregard my last post. I've never handled one, but from the looks, that is one sweet knife!
