My apologies if this is in the wrong forum. I am kind of new around here. I did a search for Helle knives and most of them were from this forum, so I posted this here.
I recently purchased a Helle Kit from Ragnar for my father. His birthday is next week and I received the kit today. I thought I had read the instructions came in English and Norwegian (even though Ragnar said on his site they were only in Norwegian) and what do you know, there are no English instructions. I should have just trusted Ragnar, but regardless, I now own a great looking Helle Kit, which makes a knife similar to the Helle Harding. The instructions have a few pictures, but nothing that I can really interpret. My dad knows more about knives than I do, but he hasn't made his own before so I was looking for help. Basically, what I would love for someone to do is give a brief description of what to do to put the knife together so that I can print it out and give it to him with the knife.
If you haven't seen the kit, you can click the link above and see it. Here is what Ragnar had to say on his site.
"The Helle kit makes a knife similar to the Harding, but with a one piece handle. It uses the #99 blade shown above. The blade is the famous Norwegian laminated stainless steel and is 4" long. The knife will make up to be about 8 1/2" or 8 3/4" overall. You will have to drill and shape the block to form the handle. The kit includes the blade, a block of curly birch, the hilt plate, the pommel nut that drives on the end of the tang, and a rivet for the sheath. The sheath is cut out and ready to stitch up. There is a keeper strap with a hole that engages the pommel nut. The thread is included. but I do not see needles. Brief instructions are included, but they are in Norwegian."
Thanks a lot.
