My guess is, left to right, Sapphire (blue), Black, and Emerald green burlaps. Great meeting you at the show!

The sapphire looks a bit darker than what we've had recently, so it could be an older piece.

Bamboo is correct. The emerald is sand blasted and the other two are not. There are better pictures of my same knives on page 7 of the "Let's see your Shadetree" thread.

Ken and others are correct, It was made by us.

LavaWood,

The scales that you are referring to are Shadetree burlaps. The dark color you are asking about in the various pictures is what Fiddleback Forge calls “Black” and fod (i.e. the owner of Shadetree) calls “Oreo.” It is made from black pigmented resin with white burlap. Depending on the lighting in the photographs, this material can look anywhere from black to bluish purple in color.

All of the Shadetree burlaps are difficult to photograph to capture the true colors. I have found that the best natural colors are taken outside in non-direct sunlight. Inside photos always seem to result in washed-out or distorted colors to me.

Here is a photo to show many of the Shadetree colors. (I don’t have any of the newer Herringbone burlaps to show.)

1st Row L to R: “Ruby” Hiking Buddy, “Evergreen” Patch, “Drunken Burlap” Bushcraft Karda

2nd Row L to R: “Emerald” Bushcrafter, “Black/Oreo” Arete, “Ruby” Bushcrafter, “Sapphire” Kephart

3rd Row L to R: “Sapphire” Camp Nessie, “Emerald” Leuku, “Black/Oreo” Bushcrafter

4th Row L to R: “Electric Orange” Duke, “Coffeebag” Toothpik, “Ruby” Big Sneaky

Good luck with your search. Take it from me, Shadetree burlaps are very addicting.

Phil

I was going to make a reference to your watermelon block in the collections thread. Great photos.
I want an entire kitchen set in oreo (blue/purple)
All sneaky pete handles please :)

I apologize for the photo orientation above. I edited it before I posted, but it is not showing correctly for some reason. I'll check it later and correct as necessary.

Thanks,

Phil

This is my favorite shadetree config. I look at it two ways: when the black and white is on white, canvas or lighter liners, then it looks more purple. When it's on black or dark colored liners then it's the true black and white.

Could you use glow in the dark fibers?
Fiber optic cluster?
A wire matrix?

Is anyone doing internal LED's
Ooh, headlights...

Here's another example of the black shadetree. It'll definitely take on purple or blue shades depending on lighting. It (along with the rest of the shadetree as exhibited in Phil's lust worthy watermelon pic) is pretty cool.

We've done GITD and wire matrix, and fiber optic clusters get crushed and no longer work.

See our sales thread for more stuff we make.

Thanks for the interest!

The black burlap is one of my favorites followed closely by sapphire.

I'd like to see more cabon fiber scales, the pictures of the few knives handled with those scales look amazing.
